You've Lost that Loving Feeling.....

Last weekend was our church small group winter retreat. Originally we were going to go winter camping, but then the girls go involved and we ended up having a two night sleepover at Adam's house. It was a little more rustic than is sounds; Adam rents a two room guest house and the only furniture he owns is a table, but there was heat. Adam wanted to "create an experience." This meant that we would all meet up at the Starbucks in Westport and "hike in" two miles to his house. I was in charge of food for the weekend, so I stopped by his place first to drop off all of my stuff and then hiked with him to Starbucks to meet up with everyone and help carry their stuff all the way back to Adam's. Despite my initial thoughts it was a lot of fun. We spent the evening eating and playing games. Saturday morning we got up and made breakfast. The plan
was to go hiking, but we ended up finding some trails along the beach. It was a little windy but
absolutely beautiful outside. That night we had made dinner reservations at a little cafe in Fairfield and I told everyone we would be dressing up to celebrate Valentine's day. The guys were being a little weird and we knew they were up to something. They sent us ahead to the restaurant to hold our reservation. Little did we know this was their ploy to make an entrance. A little while longer they come walking in stand at the head of the table. Before I know it they are singing, "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" and the entire restaraunt has stopped what it was doing to listen in. By the end of the song I think my face was about as red as my dress. It was very sweet and we learned later that they had been practicing all day. The owner of the restaraunt came over later to tell they guys that they were welcome back anytime and he would pay them in free food.

Kay had flown into town for work so she was able to meet up with us for dinner. It was great to have her meet all of my friends here. After dinner we went back to change clothes and then headed down to the ocean for a beach bonfire. The beach was cold but the fire was wonderful. Not a bad Valentines day after all. Sunday I spent the day with Kay showing her around Fairfield and catching up on life. The Goodrich's came home Sunday evening and it was great for them to all meet her and for her to finally have faces to all the the people I talk about.
